A Story of Possibilities

During their talk, John and Mark recounted the founding of John’s Crazy Socks. The idea began when John, in his final year of high school, struggled to find meaningful employment. Determined to create his own path, John proposed starting a business with his father. His passion for socks—colorful, creative, and full of personality—shaped their venture. Together, they launched the business in December 2016.

The company has since grown into the world’s largest sock store. They employ 34 people, including 22 with differing abilities, and have shipped over 475,000 orders worldwide. Their giving-back program has raised more than $800,000 for charity partners, including the Special Olympics and the National Down Syndrome Society.

Mark X. Cronin reflected on the importance of sharing their story: “We want others to see what is possible. By sharing John’s journey, we hope to spark entrepreneurial spirit and promote inclusion.” They also highlighted the benefits of hiring people with differing abilities, underscoring how inclusion strengthens businesses.
